USA : PM signs a lobbying contract worth $420,000

Prime Minister Alix-Dider Fils-Aimé signed a one-year contract in February 2025 with Continental Strategy, a Washington-based lobbying firm headed by a former Donald Trump ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS) for $420,000 over one year ($35,000 per month). The deal would aim to strengthen Haiti’s relationship with the United States, promote investment and support the country’s economic recovery, according to the Miami Herald.

9% of Haiti’s population displaced

Ongoing gang violence in Haiti has displaced more than 9% of Haiti’s population, three times the number expected in 2024, said Ulrika Johnson, the United Nations humanitarian coordinator in the country. The "unprecedented crisis" in Haiti means that every number that is presented "is a new record [...] The suffering that this is causing is immense, and I would say it’s really heartbreaking to see, to witness, to listen to the victims of the violence." The situation continues to unfold as funding for humanitarian operations worldwide has declined following the recent decision by the United States to suspend foreign aid.

In the monthly ranking of women's football published Thursday, March 6, 2025, our Grenadières have moved up one place, and are now 53rd in the world. At the regional level, in the Concacaf zone, they maintain their 6th place. The next ranking will be published on June 11, 2025.

University Cooperation with France

The Embassy of Haiti in France organized a fruitful working meeting with the Vice-President of the University of Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC), Laurent Thévenet, and the Director of International Relations, Ms. Carole Torriero. The objective of this meeting was to lay the foundations for a solid cooperation between UPEC and Haitian universities, promoting academic and scientific exchanges. UPEC has shown great interest, proposing specific collaborations in the fields of law, environment, health and educational sciences.
