Surgery : A First in Haiti

On Sunday, March 9, 2025, a first in Haiti was performed in orthopedic surgery. The team from the trauma and orthopedics department of Justinien University Hospital (HUJ) successfully performed a total knee replacement on a 70-year-old patient with advanced osteoarthritis. The operation under general anesthesia lasted 3 hours.

Cuba : Names of the 7 qualified scholarship holders

OAS : New Secretary General

On Monday, March 10, 2025, during the elections at the headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert Ramdin was elected by acclamation as the new Secretary General. He succeeds Luis Almagro who is retiring after two consecutive 5-year terms.

New deanship at the FLA

On Friday, March 7, 2025, the members of the new deanship elected to the Faculty of Applied Linguistics received their investiture (4-year term), in the premises of the Rectorate of the State University of Haiti (UEH). The new deanship is composed of the professors :

- Wilhelm Michel (Dean);

- Jean Whig Noël (Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs);

- Martineau Nelson (Vice-Dean for Research).
