Haiti - FLASH : Towards the integration of the diaspora in the electoral and referendum process

On Monday, March 17, 2025, Ms. J.E. Kathia Verdier, Minister of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE), hosted key institutional stakeholders for an important meeting on the integration of the Haitian diaspora in the electoral and referendum process.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils Aimé, we have placed the involvement of our compatriots living abroad at the heart of government priorities, declared the Minister. She expressed her determination to realize this vision by implementing inclusive strategies that will guarantee the diaspora an active role in Haiti's governance.

Participating in this strategic meeting were: Gracien Jean, Minister Delegate for Electoral and Constitutional Affairs (MDEC); Franck Lauture, representing the Steering Committee of the National Conference (CPCN); Patrick St-Hilaire, President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP); Reynold Guerrier, Director of the National Identification Office (ONI); two senior officials from the Prime Minister's Office; and representatives of the Government and relevant institutions.

Minister Verdier reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to strengthening ties between Haiti and its compatriots abroad. "Together, we will build a stronger, fairer, and more inclusive State."
