The illegal Haitian ghetto of Mata Mosquito, better known in the Dominican Republic as "Pequeño Haiti" located on the coast of Bávaro, is being completely demolished as part of a massive operation supported by the authorities. Hundreds of shacks, houses, buildings up to three stories high, and businesses have been demolished using heavy equipment.
