Haiti - Diaspora : The Minister of MHAVE in Chile 13/06/2025 10:08:11
As part of her tour of several countries with large Haitian communities, Kathia Verdier, Minister for Haitians Living Abroad, held a working meeting with the entire staff of the Haitian Embassy to assess the quality of services provided to compatriots. The issuance of passports and other legal documents such as criminal record extracts and birth certificates were discussed. Furthermore, in collaboration with the UN, the Minister announced the launch of a National Identity Card (CIN) service for Haitians in Chile, which will soon be operational, at the request of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé. Kathia Verdier took advantage of her visit to meet with Haitian Ambassador Hervé Saint-Louis and several leaders of the Haitian community, including pastors, priests, organization leaders, entrepreneurs, and teachers, to listen to their concerns. Key needs included access to legal documents, administrative barriers, and the difficult living conditions of Haitians. Minister Verdier reiterated her commitment to continue listening, understanding, and responding to the needs of every Haitian, wherever they are, and affirmed her determination to place the diaspora at the heart of the country's development, to defend the rights and interests of her compatriots, and to join forces to rebuild the land of Dessalines.
