Edouens Elan, alias "Silibon" cousin of gang leader Luckson Elan, was arrested by the Saint-Marc Police for his involvement in ammunition trafficking to supply the "Gran Grif" criminal group based in Savien, Artibonite department. Terrible road accident

On Saturday, August 9, 2025, a terrible traffic accident occurred during a violent collision at Morne de Canapé-Vert, where a tractor-trailer carrying a shipping container coming from Pétion-ville collided with a minibus full of passengers coming from the city center. The provisional death toll is high : at least six people died and several others were injured, some seriously. The truck's defective brakes may have been the cause of this road tragedy.

9th A.F. Exam : Publication Imminent

Kendy Nicolas, Director of Basic Education (DEF), announced the finalization of the process for marking the 9th grade fundamental exam papers, specifying that the current phase concerns the transmission of data, with a view to publishing the results as soon as possible.

Camps : Health Alert

According to a health study by MEDIC Haiti and the Point Final Movement, conducted from July 1 to August 5, 2025, in seven camps for displaced persons in Port-au-Prince and three in Léogâne, the situation is dire: 98% of displaced persons suffer from scabies, and 85% of children aged 1 to 6 have diarrhea or dysentery, aggravated by contaminated water and intestinal parasites. Acute or moderate malnutrition affects 80% of children, and acute respiratory infections affect 70% of children aged 1 to 10.

2026 W Concacaf Championship : Competition Format

The 2026 W Concacaf Championship Finals, scheduled for November 2026, will feature eight teams and a single-elimination format: quarterfinals, play-in matches, semifinals, a third-place match, and the final. The winners of the quarterfinals will earn a direct ticket to the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil, while the losers will aim for qualification via the intercontinental play-offs. 7th year of negative growth

Against a backdrop of an ongoing security crisis resulting in a seventh year of negative growth, Alfred Fils Metellus, the Minister of Economy and Finance, led a meeting with Georges Henry Fils, the Vice Governor of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH), to prepare and draft the 2025-2026 budget.
