Storm Erin does not threaten Haiti

Tropical Storm Erin continues its path and is expected to strengthen into a hurricane this week, but it does not currently pose a threat to Haiti. The Hydro-Meteorological Unit continues to monitor its movements to inform the population of the evolution of this tropical system.

Ways to strengthen FAd’H ?

Jean-Michel Moïse, Haiti's Minister of Defense, met with Carlos G. Ruiz Massieu, head of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH). The discussion focused on combating growing insecurity and concrete options for strengthening the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd'H). This meeting was particularly constructive, with the examination of possible solutions ranging from operational capacity building to integrated approaches to human and logistical resource development.

Laurent Saint-Cyr talks with Jocelerme Privert

Laurent Saint-Cyr, the President pro tempore of the Transitional Council, spoke with former President Jocelerme Privert. "I expressed my gratitude for this frank and constructive exchange. We discussed issues related to governance, urgent reforms, as well as the need to put the country into election mode while quickly restoring security. It is essential to return to constitutional order and place the country on the path to stability."

International Youth Day

On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, as part of International Youth Day and with the participation of UNICEF Haiti, the French Embassy welcomed a delegation of children and adolescents from the "Rezo Fanm Kapap Dayiti" from vulnerable neighborhoods in Carrefour to the Residence. France reaffirms its commitment to supporting Haitian youth in their educational, cultural, and civic initiatives through projects supported by the Embassy, the French Institute, the French Development Agency (AFD), and Expertise France.

Condolences from the PAP City Hall

To avoid such tragedies, the City Hall reminds all drivers of heavy equipment (dump trucks, trailers, flatbeds, etc...) to use John Brown Avenue (Bourdon) exclusively for their travel between Port-au-Prince and Pétion-Ville, in both directions. The City Hall requests the Haitian National Police (PNH) to take all necessary measures to enforce this measure and punish violators.

75th Anniversary of the Haitian Institute of Statistics

Founded in 1950 as the National Census Bureau, the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Informatics (IHSI), whose mission is to collect, analyze, and disseminate statistical data on demographic trends, the economy, and human development, has launched its program of activities celebrating its 75th anniversary. As part of this program, the IHSI is planning panels on data governance, training sessions for young people in schools and universities across the country, radio and television appearances, and university competitions on public policy and data governance.
