Turtle Island Shipwreck

On Friday, August 22, 2025, a boat from Cap-Haïtien bound for Nippes sank off the coast of Turtle Island. The boat was carrying 16 passengers and hundreds of bags of rice, according to a local witness. No loss of life was reported; the entire cargo was a total loss.

Arms Trafficking : Former US Police Officer Arrested and Sentenced

Michael Adrian Nieto, a former US police officer, was arrested and sentenced for buying and selling more than 58 firearms. Precautionary measures against 15 security agents
