On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé left the country for Washington, D.C., where he will participate on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, in the UN/CARICOM-EPG/OAS Tripartite Meeting dedicated to strengthening stability in Haiti. The Prime Minister is leading a Haitian delegation including Raina Villejoint Forbin, Chief of Staff to Laurent Saint-Cyr, President pro tempore of the Transitional Council; Guerly Leriche, Advisor to the Head of Government; Alfred Fils Métellus, Minister of Economy and Finance; Herwil Gaspard, Minister Delegate for Solidarity and Humanitarian Affairs; Mario Andrésol, Secretary of State for Public Security; Frédéric Leconte, Chief Inspector General of the Haitian National Police; and representatives of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP).

Seizure of Dominican contraband

During the night of August 22-23, 2025, Customs officers seized contraband in Terrier-Rouge: wheat flour, pasta, etc., transported in several trucks from the Dominican Republic.

The CSPJ rejects the candidacy of Mr. Guy Alexis

Eight days after the dismissal of Mr. Frantz Monclair for serious administrative misconduct, the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ) refused to issue the swearing-in letter to Mr. Guy Alexis, citing a violation of Article 45. As a result, the Minister of Justice, Me Patrick Pélissier, was forced to dismiss Me Alexis and instead promoted Mr. Roosevelt Cadet, Deputy Government Commissioner, to head the Port-au-Prince prosecutor's office. Barring a last-minute change of heart, Mr. Cadet should be installed shortly.

Surprise for Vladimir Paraison

On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the new Commander-in-Chief, André Jonas Vladimir Paraison, was surprised to be honored by his comrades from the first class of the 1995 graduating class during a ceremony of honor and merit attended by several members of the High Command. He was awarded a plaque of honor and merit for his dedication and remarkable contributions, and to recognize his courage for having devoted all his heart and energy to serving the country and the police institution.
