Bassin Bleu attacked by the "Ti Bwadòm" gang

On Thursday, September 18, 2025, at least fifty heavily armed members of the "Ti Bwadòm" gang savagely attacked the town of Bassin Bleu (Northwest Department), sowing panic, terror, and destruction among the population. The attackers set fire to the police substation and vehicles, looted the Koples credit union, attacked private homes, and kidnapped several people. The Haitian National Police (PNH) dispatched reinforcements from the Departmental Law Enforcement Unit (UDMO) to regain control of the area. No casualties from this violent attack have been reported at this time.

Jacmel Carnival : Jules André Jean Pierre Arrested

On Thursday, November 18, 2025, following reports, Jules André Jean Pierre, deputy head of the artistic committee of the Jacmel Carnival 2025 Management Committee, was arrested. He is accused of breach of trust, embezzlement, and criminal conspiracy. In addition, an arrest warrant was issued for Ilrique Perrin, head of the artistic committee.

Death of Déjean Bélizaire

On Thursday, September 18, 2025, in a press release, the Prime Minister's Office said it learned with "[...] deep emotion of the death of the politician and former senator, engineer Déjean Bélizaire, which occurred this Thursday, September 18, 2025, in New York. Former President of the National Assembly and leader of the MNP28, Mr. Bélizaire devoted a large part of his life to serving the Nation and promoting democratic life. On behalf of the Haitian people and the Government, we offer our sincere condolences to his family, loved ones, and all those who shared his commitment to the country.

"Corventina" signs an additional season with OL

Already tied to the French club Olympique Lyonnais (OL) until 2029 after an extension signed last May, midfielder Melchie Dumornay, aka "Corventina," (22 years old), reaffirms his desire to make history at his club and signs for an additional season, until June 30, 2030.

EDH indebted by the State:

Three months after the forced shutdown of the Péligre hydroelectric power plant, the situation remains unchanged. Pierre Michel Félix, President of the Federation of Haitian Electricity Workers' Unions (FESTREDH), deplores the heavy accumulated debt of the Electricité d'Haïti (EDH). In addition to the many non-paying consumers, several public institutions have significant unpaid bills, including : the Ministry of Public Health owes nearly 500 million gourdes, the Ministry of National Education approximately 125 million, and the Ministry of the Interior 130 million, which deprives the EDH of the resources needed to invest in network maintenance and modernization.
