Haiti - New York : Laurent Saint-Cyr speaks with members and leaders of the diaspora

On the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, Laurent Saint-Cyr, President pro tempore of the Transitional Council, spoke with members and leaders of the diaspora during a roundtable organized by the Consulate General of Haiti in New York.

This roundtable, which focused on three major issues : security, elections, and immigration, brought together government officials, including Secretary of State for Public Security Mario Andrésol, security experts, military professionals, and influential representatives of the diaspora. The theme was: "Rebuilding the Haitian Army: Security and Stability for Haiti."

"It seemed essential to me to meet with you even before beginning my participation in the United Nations General Assembly. "I do so out of respect, because I am first and foremost a servant of the Nation, but also to demonstrate the importance of the full and complete involvement of the Haitian diaspora in the Presidential Transitional Council.

As we intensify our advocacy to obtain the unwavering support of our international partners, I remain convinced that it is first and foremost together, with all the sons and daughters of Haiti, that we must seek and find lasting solutions to the crisis our country is going through," affirmed Laurent Saint-Cyr.

He also reiterated his commitment to the full and complete participation of the diaspora in Haiti's political and institutional life.

During his speech, he also recalled the numerous security and institutional challenges facing Haiti, while emphasizing the Government's determination to do everything possible to restore security and organize elections, essential conditions for the success of the transition and to guarantee peace, stability, and sustainable development for future generations.
