Haiti - FLASH : Back home, Laurent Saint-Cyr said he was satisfied

On Sunday, September 28, 2025, Laurent Saint-Cyr, President pro tempore and Coordinator of the Transitional Council, returned home after participating in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

A delegation including members of the Transitional Council, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, members of the Government, the Secretary General of the National Palace, Ms. Marie Élisabeth Régine Joseph Haddad, the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, Odilien Charles, the Director General of the National Police, André Jonas Vladimir Paraison, accompanied by members of the High Staff of the Police, General Jean Jonas, accompanied by several members of the High Staff of the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd'H), as well as numerous national figures, welcomed him on the tarmac of Toussaint Louverture International Airport.

By participating in the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, the President of the CPT embodied the voice of the Haitian people before the international community with dignity, firmness, and patriotism. Through his clear and determined speech https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-45856-haiti-flash-haiti-is-a-country-at-war-declared-saint-cyr-at-the-un-video-of-the-speech.html , he highlighted the Nation's major concerns: the fight against insecurity, the urgent response to the humanitarian crisis, and the Transitional Government's irreversible commitment to ensuring, as soon as possible, the holding of free, inclusive, and credible elections.

This historic intervention demonstrated Haiti's firm resolve to defend its vital interests, preserve its sovereignty, and strengthen its place within the United Nations. It also marked a new stage in the national recovery process, where unity, responsibility, and determination guide the actions of legitimate authorities.

During a press conference held in the airport's diplomatic lounge, Laurent Saint-Cyr provided an update on his trip. He expressed his satisfaction after participating in the largest global forum bringing together heads of state. He took the opportunity to thank and mobilize all of Haiti's friendly countries for their support in the face of the serious crisis ravaging Haiti's society.

Laurent Saint-Cyr held several bilateral meetings with representatives of other countries and institutions, such as Kenyan President William Ruto, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary-General Albert Ramdin, to name a few.

He expressed hope that the next President to attend the UN General Assembly will not address security issues in Haiti, but rather trade with other countries.
